In these expressive oil paintings, a naked woman looks (or does not look) at us. Whether the viewer will find eroticism in them is a matter of their intuition, but the author claims that Eros – especially its aggressive aspect – does not play any role in the process of painting. Rather, it is softness, roundness, tenderness and abstract emotion that finds pictorial expression in the female figure. In short, not Mars, but Venus.

The series of paintings has indirectly originated from croquis drawing classes. The author says, “When I was drawing, I tried to focus less on the anatomical precision of the body and more on the calligraphy of the line and the dance of the brush on paper.” Thus, these paintings are like an improvised movement without rules, which is not very different from drawing. They are usually either monochrome or built on a contrast of two or three colours.

There are a few more paintings in the exhibition, which were based on a photo shoot with a flexible mirror.
